The Boehringer Ingelheim Prize
Each year, the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation awards the Boehringer lngelheim Prize to research staff of the University Medical Center Mainz. The prize is endowed with €30,000 and is generally awarded in equal shares to an applicant from the field of theoretical medicine and an applicant from the field of clinical medicine. The Boehringer lngelheim Prize recognizes a high-ranking scientific paper written by an advanced early-career researcher (doctoral candidate, postdoctoral lecturing qualification (habilitation) candidate, early-career research group leader, (junior professor) as a prominent author of the paper (first authorship or corresponding/senior authorship). The paper must have been published or accepted for publication during the preceding year. The call for entries is published at the beginning of the year by the Chief Scientific Officer.
Hedwig St. Denis-Stiftung
In her will dated 30 January 1967, Hedwig St. Denis, née Rapp, bequeathed a quarter of her estate to Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz for use in medical research. The foundation supports projects in the field of cancer research and treatment/prevention. Research groups or individuals at the University Medical Center Mainz active in this field are eligible to apply for research funding from the foundation.

The Robert Müller Foundation
The Robert Müller Foundation was established in 1966 by Robert Müller, a publisher from Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg. The sole objective of the foundation is to provide direct funding for research at the Faculty of Medicine, primarily in the field of angiocardiology. This includes support for teaching and research institutions, funding for research projects limited in terms of scope and duration, scientific work and publications and the provision of grants of all types for research and study trips. The foundation also awards an annual research prize of €5,000. The Board of Directors of the foundation determines the beneficiaries of grants based on the recommendations of the academic advisory council.

The Sibylle Kalkhof-Rose Foundation
The Sibylle Kalkhof-Rose Foundation was established in 2006 by the private benefactor Sibylle Kalkhof-Rose and another benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, as a non-autonomous foundation that is operated by the Johannes Gutenberg University Foundation. The objective of the foundation is to support outstanding early-career academics by awarding scholarships and prizes. The foundation closely cooperates with the Gutenberg Academy for Young Researchers, which constitutes an element of Johannes Gutenberg University’s concept for structured postgraduate education. The Gutenberg Academy offers special funding to the top 25 doctoral candidates across all disciplines at the university.

Stiftung Mainzer Herz
The Stiftung Mainzer Herz, which was established in 2007, is recognized as a non-profit foundation and is dedicated to promoting research and teaching as well as continuously improving patient care at the Department of Cardiology of University Medical Center Mainz. The measures it supports range from prophylaxis, i.e. the screening and prevention of these diseases, through to optimal care for patients who have suffered an acute myocardial infarction.

The Susanne Marie Sofie Haufen Foundation
The purpose of the Susanne Marie Sofie Haufen Foundation of Johannes Gutenberg University is to financially support students in the field of medicine and epidemiology by granting a scholarship of €300 per month for a maximum of 12 months. Students at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz Faculty of Medicine who have achieved good academic results and whose financial situation is weak are eligible to apply.

The Tancré Foundation
The Tancré Foundation was established on 9 September 1965 by Dr. med. Ella Tancré from Wiesbaden in memory of her husband Dr. med. Erich Tancré. The purpose of the foundation is to directly promote research at the University Medical Center Mainz by awarding one-time scholarships (prize money) to suitable doctoral candidates in medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz to facilitate outstanding doctoral theses in the field of medicine. Doctoral candidates can only be nominated by supervising professors of Faculty 04 – University Medical Center.
