German Centers for Health Research (DZG)

The German Centers for Health Research (DZG) are funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and aim to create optimal research conditions to combat widespread diseases. The University Medical Center Mainz is involved in two of the total of four centers:

Together with its partners, the Goethe University Frankfurt, the Kerckhoff Hospital Bad Nauheim and the MPI Bad Nauheim, the University Medical Center Mainz is one of seven German centers focusing on cardiovascular research. In Mainz, the projects “MyoVascFn - Cohort Study” and Mehrwert der Endothelfunktionsmessung für die Prognosestellung und Therapiesteuerung [Added value of endothelial function measurement for prognosis and therapy management] are led by the Department of Internal Medicine II.

The German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK)

The German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research is a network consisting of a total of 20 institutions that combines the expertise of the Goethe University Frankfurt with that of the University Medical Center Mainz, the Georg Speyer House and the Krankenhaus Nordwest in Frankfurt, to review findings from findings from fundamental research that may provide new approaches to preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.
