German Centers for Health Research (DZG)

The aim of the German Centers for Health Research (DZG), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, is to create optimal research conditions to combat common diseases. UMC is involved in two of the four research centers:

German Cancer Consortium (DKTK)

Together with the Goethe University Frankfurt, Kerckhoff Clinic Bad Nauheim and the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research Bad Neuheim, UMC-Mainz participates in one of seven German centers with a focus in cardiovascular resesarch. In Mainz the projects "MyoVascFn - Cohort Study" as well as "Added value of endothelial function measurement for forecasting and therapy control" are carried out Department of Internal Medicine II.

German Cancer Consortium

The expertise of researchers from UMC, Goethe University Frankfurt, Georg Speyer House and Nordwest Krankenhaus in Frankfurt is united within the context of the Geman Cancer Consortium, which is a network consisting of twenty facilities, which review the results of basic research and apply it to new diagnostic, preventative, and treatment approaches for cancer.
